Govt. to crack down on CURE cheats
Employers who fail to provide information to the Commission for Unity and Racial Equality or who furnish false information face fines of up to $5,000 under a bill tabled in the House on Friday.
The act will also require the chief statistician to hand over information to CURE, allows CURE to set up a register of employers and changes the quorum for a CURE meeting to half of the members plus one.
Premier at tourism conference in US
Premier Alex Scott will be one of a number of Government heads taking part in a special forum held in Miami during the Caribbean Hotel Industry Conference.
The conference, which began yesterday and runs until Wednesday, focuses on tourism trends and how they affect the region.
Mr Scott said shared knowledge on global trends could only help in reviving Bermuda's tourism.
Following his participation in the Caribbean Hotel Industry Conference Premier Scott will attend the 26th meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
Drunk driver loses control of his car
A drunk driver overturned his grey Mitshubi Lancer after hitting a wall on Middle Road, Southampton in the early hours of Saturday.
The 27 year old lost control of the car near Granaway Lane and was unhurt but was arrested for driving under the influence.
Thief steals items from unlocked van
A thief stole a chipping hammer, a briefcase and $40 from an unlocked van parked in Footbridge Lane, Pembroke overnight on Saturday.
