A pop-up clinic offering Covid-19 booster shots is set to open tomorrow on Point Finger Road in Paget.

The clinic, hosted by St John’s Ambulance, is intended to service essential and healthcare workers, along with residents over the age of 50.

While the clinic will offer Moderna booster shots to qualified members of the public at no charge, donations to St John’s Ambulance would be appreciated.

Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, said: “I encourage eligible residents to take advantage of the opportunity to receive these newer Covid-19 booster shots designed to offer a defence against some of the newer variants.”

She added that while many people may feel fatigued by the pandemic and feel less inclined to get a booster shot, they offer significant protection to older and vulnerable Bermudians.

“Bermuda continues to see Covid-19 infections and related deaths,” Ms Wilson said. “The boosters offer a great mechanism to mitigate against the risk of someone developing serious health complications due to the virus and complications from ‘long Covid’.”

Those who attend must bring photo identification and proof of date of their last Covid-19 vaccination.

In order to qualify for the free booster, members of the public must have completed their first two vaccine doses and received their last dose or booster more than five months ago.

Those over the age of 50 are eligible, along with younger healthcare workers, essential workers or immunocompromised people.
