Rangers cash in after cup win
Southampton Rangers skipper Kwame Tucker has received a $1,500 cheque on behalf of his Belco Cup winning team-mates.
Defending champions Rangers won their third successive Belco Cup defeating Young Men’s Social Club by 68-runs at Lords last Sunday.
Tucker was was presented with a cheque by Belco president Garry A. Madeiros in the firm’s boardroom yesterday.
He also received a $300 cheque for his brother Janeiro who scooped the man-of-the-match award for his swashbuckling 97.
To celebrate their fifth anniversary sponsoring the competition, Belco also recognised the five wickets taken by Rangers’ Dwayne Leverock. He received $250 electricity credit and a $500 donation to which will be made to Big Brother & Big Sisters charity.
Nolan Walker received a cheque for $1,000 on behalf of losing finalists Young Men’s Social Club, while semi-finalists Flatt’s and St. Davids received $300 each.
Belco also presented $3,000 to the Bermuda Cricket Board in support of their ongoing activities, and $500 to Somerset Cricket Club for hosting one of the semi-final games.
Admission fees totalling $520 will be donated to STAR, a recognised charity that provides support to aids patients and their families. Belco also donated $500 to the same charity.
Southampton Rangers have won the Belco Cup four times in the last five years.
