Marshall Diel & Myers nominated for prestigious legal award
A mid-sized Bermudian law firm has been nominated as Offshore Firm of the Year in The Lawyer’s European Awards 2023, scheduled for London next month.
Marshall Diel & Myers Limited, which was shortlisted in 2019 for the same award, has been nominated alongside five other firms — Carey Olsen, which has an office in Bermuda, Harney Westwood & Riegels, Lennox Paton, Mourant, and Ogier.
The firm said criteria for the award include context and positioning in the market, a firm’s strategic vision, depth and breadth of legal expertise, commitment to diversity and inclusion, environmental social governance principles and community engagement, and success and commercial strength.
Katie Tornari, director, said: “Despite being a single-jurisdiction firm, we are recognised locally and internationally as a firm that regularly competes with larger offshore firms. The firm is involved in a disproportionately large number of the cases before the Bermuda courts and our cases are capturing global attention.”
The law firm said Bermudians make up 86 per cent of the staff, and there is a high number of exceptional female lawyers in senior roles. Nine of the 21 lawyers in the firm are women, two of whom are directors.
