Surgery ruled out for Ming
Well known community activist and Salvation Army band member Calvin Ming has not had to have a pacemaker.
Last month we reported that the 14-year heart transplant recipient, was returning to the Pittsburgh Hospital where he received the transplant, to possibly be outfitted with a pacemaker.
In an interview, Mr. Ming explained that the electrical conductivity in his heart was weakening causing him to be very tired much of the time. He said he lacked the strength to do his daily exercises and noticed that he was not as strong as he would like to be at playing his beloved coronet.
Mr. Ming met with doctors at Pittsburgh Presbyterian University Hospital just after Easter. After testing there he said doctors felt his condition could be rectified with medication and an operation to insert a pacemaker was not mandatory.
He and his family are very happy with that news.
