WHETHER you're a Tiger Woods wannabe, or just manage to hit a golf ball without breaking something, the annual Sunshine League Charity Golf Classic at Port Royal on June 2 is for you.The tournament, launched three years ago, has grown in popularity and last year attracted 22 teams.
Special events fundraising committee member Veronica Hines said participants did not have to be a pro to play and the event was a wonderful opportunity for colleagues and friends to have fun and help raise money for the King Street children's home in the process.
The children's home has provided a place of safety to hundreds of children since 1919 and depends on the generosity of local businesses and individuals to cover all its major expenses.
This is the first major fundraiser this year and Ms Hines is hoping for another great turnout.
Teams consist of four members who each pay $130 to participate, which includes all green fees and a buffet lunch.
This year the money will be used to cover the home's operational expenses.
Registration begins at 7.15 a.m. with an 8 a.m. start on June 2 at Port Royal.
Ms Hines said the home was still desperately trying to find additional sponsorship and anyone wanting to help can contact her during office hours at 292-4360 or by e-mail sich@sunshineleague.bm
