THE history, growth and structure of the Internet and the role of domain names and related addressing systems, their impact on industries and the overall information society, will be discussed at the close of TechWeek today.

Jacob Malthouse, of The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), will deliver his lecture, "The Internet — Thinking like a Network: A Digital Immigrant's Guide", at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration at 2.30 p.m.

Mr. Malthouse is the ICANN liaison for Bermuda, Canada and the Caribbean.

The Internet is a common feature in almost everyone's life and his address will provide interesting insight into the Internet for people of all ages who are interested in how it works.

Those attending will also learn about ICANN — an organisation that ensures that you find the web site you are looking for, no matter where in world it is located.

Tips and tricks on using your Blackberry will also be presented by Digicel from noon to 1 p.m. at the Bank of Bermuda Insight Learning Centre on Church Street, while the Bermuda Police Service will talk about online fraud at the Cathedral Hall on Church Street between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
