Health council to expand support for critical care
After collaborative efforts in its support for healthcare improvements, the Bermuda Health Council said it aims to build an adaptable health system by expanding existing partnerships.
In its 2023-24 annual report, the BHC noted that it championed advancements across regulatory frameworks and public policy.
Among the highlights of its efforts were the modernisation of health technology assessments and expanded access to kidney transplants through the Mutual Reinsurance Fund.
The health council also noted its efforts in the piloting of a new online registration platform for health professionals.
Through collaborations with organisations such as Ignite Bermuda and the National Health Service in Britain, the organisation said, it has strengthened Bermuda’s approach to innovation in ageing, chronic conditions and live donor kidney transplants.
It said that the collaborations highlighted the council’s commitment to working with others to find practical solutions for the island’s health system.
Among its work, the body launched a new website to boost its identity.
The health council said it amplified its outreach efforts to better connect with health professionals and the public.
It said it also strengthened workplace culture through targeted wellness initiatives, professional development opportunities and meaningful staff recognition.
The council said such efforts reflected its belief that a supported and empowered team was essential to achieving lasting public health outcomes.
Looking ahead, the council said it remained committed to improving care co-ordination and supporting critical health strategies, including long-term care.
