Overall national champions crowned in pool

The Ascot Bermuda National Swimming Championships concluded on Sunday, with Allison Steynor and Walker Smith named junior national champions, and Marleigh Howes and Sam Williamson crowned senior champions.

Among the juniors, World Aquatics high point awards were won by Madison Fox in the 50 freestyle (401 points) and Walker Smith (271) in the 100 freestyle.

Senior World Aquatics high-point winners were Emma Harvey (748) in the 50 butterfly and Connor Hupman (684) in the 100 freestyle.

Three records were broken, with Harvey lowering the 50 and 100 butterfly long-course records and Jorgia White breaking her own record in the girls’ 15 -16 age group in the 1500 freestyle on the final day in a time of 19min 34.89sec.

Hupman went on to sweep the men’s freestyle events, while Violet Smith and Brian Desmond swept the women’s and men’s backstroke events respectively.
