Four banned from the roads
Four motorists have been disqualified from driving vehicles for varying periods when they appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Christopher Pepper, 28, admitted driving while impaired by alcohol and while over the legal blood-alcohol limit when he appeared in court.
Pepper, who was visiting the island from Britain, committed the offences in Paget on Sunday.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson fined Pepper $1,500 and disqualified him from driving all vehicles for 18 months.
Nicholas Peniston, 28, admitted riding an unlicensed cycle and speeding at 61km/h.
Peniston, from St George’s, had 14 points on his driver’s licence before pleading guilty. Magistrates can take motorists off the roads once they acquire 12 demerit points within two years.
Ms Anderson fined Peniston $660 and disqualified him from driving all vehicles for ten months.
Warwick resident Daniel Thomas pleaded guilty to having no insurance and an unlicensed cycle on several occasions.
Ms Anderson fined Thomas, 64, more than $5,000 for the offences and disqualified him from driving for seven months.
Jaci Smith, 24, admitted two counts of speeding — at 58km/h and 71km/h.
Ms Anderson fined the St George’s resident, added 12 points to her licence and disqualified her from driving for six months.
