Kennedys reports record $500m revenue
International law firm Kennedys has posted record revenue of £428 million ($551 million) for the financial year ending April 30, marking a 13 per cent increase and the firm’s 11th consecutive year of growth.
The firm’s strongest gains came from Latin America, which saw revenue rise by 27.1 per cent to nearly £13 million ($16 million). North America followed with a 22 per cent boost, reaching almost £110 million ($140 million). Other regions also posted growth, with Europe, the Middle East and Africa up 13.6 per cent, Asia-Pacific 11.5 per cent and the UK 8.8 per cent.
John Bruce, senior partner at Kennedys, said: “The firm’s global growth aspirations are clearly evidenced through these results. We have made deliberate strategic decisions, establishing new offices in key jurisdictions, while also prioritising new leadership across the firm.”
Kennedys credited its strong performance in part to its work on several high-profile global matters. These included advising insurers and reinsurers on multibillion dollar claims involving aviation lessors affected by UK and EU sanctions on Russia, and acting in London and Australia on fallout from the collapse of Greensill Capital. The firm also played a leading role in US litigation over chemical exposures to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances.
Kennedys now operates in nearly 50 countries worldwide. Further expansion came with the opening of new offices in Los Angeles and Seattle. Under the leadership of Mr Bruce, who took on the role in January following the long tenure of Nick Thomas, the firm is pursuing a refreshed global strategy.
“We have an ambitious goal of $1 billion global turnover by 2030. By investing in our people, processes and infrastructure and innovating together, we will create a firm that is fit for the future,” Mr Bruce added.
