Arch Reinsurance Group has promoted senior leaders across its global operations, including Bermuda and Europe.

William Soares has been appointed president of Arch Reinsurance Ltd, the company’s Bermuda-based reinsurance platform. Mr Soares, who joined Arch Re in 2006, will now assume additional oversight of operational departments including finance and legal, alongside his ongoing underwriting responsibilities.

In Europe, Pierre Jal has been named president of Arch Reinsurance Europe Underwriting dac (Arch Re Europe). In his new role, Mr Jal will guide the underwriting strategy for the European platform and oversee reinsurance lines for Arch Syndicate 1955 at Lloyd’s. Mr Jal began his career with Arch Re Europe in 2007 and has held several senior roles in both the European and Bermuda operations.

David Seyller has been promoted to chief underwriting officer of Arch Re Europe, taking over the role previously held by Mr Jal. He will now lead the property and casualty, agriculture and structured underwriting teams across Europe.

All appointments are effective immediately. Mr Soares and Mr Jal will report to Jerome Halgan, president and chief underwriting officer of Arch Reinsurance Group, while Mr Seyller will report to Mr Jal.
