Yes, it’s hot, sticky and sometimes unbearable
Fitfam, it’s super hot outside, and inside too. Let’s just say the summer sun isn’t being shy this year — it’s showing all the way out. And while we love a good tan and those long daylight hours, the truth is … it’s hot. Outside, inside, upside down. The air feels like soup, and your motivation might be melting right alongside your edges.
So the question is — how are you making out with your fitness and wellness goals? Because believe it or not, this heat can actually work in your favour.
Now, before you roll your eyes and reach for the air conditioner remote, hear me out.
While the heat can be uncomfortable (and we’re not ignoring that), it also creates a powerful environment for transformation — physically and mentally.
You just need to know how to move with it, not against it.
You're already sweating — make it count
Ever notice how just walking to your car in this heat feels like cardio? That’s because your body is working overtime to regulate your temperature. When you exercise in warmer weather, your heart rate increases more quickly, which can help improve cardiovascular endurance and boost calorie burn in a shorter amount of time. It's like your body’s doing double duty — so a shorter, more efficient workout might be just what you need.
The heat demands hydration — which improves everything
You can't ignore water when it's this hot out — and that’s a good thing. More hydration means better digestion, clearer skin, improved energy levels, and more effective recovery from workouts. If nothing else, this weather forces you to take your water game seriously. So keep that bottle close and sip like it’s your job.
The mental resilience is real
Working out when it’s this hot requires a level of mental toughness that goes way beyond lifting weights. It’s about focus, discipline, and choosing not to give up — even when every part of you wants to sit directly in front of the AC. Pushing through when it’s inconvenient, uncomfortable, and sticky builds a mindset that lasts long after the heatwave is gone.
Early mornings and late evenings mean new routines
If the midday sun is unbearable, shift your schedule. Embrace those cooler early morning hours or those golden late evening sessions. Not only will your body thank you, but so will your peace of mind. There’s something powerful about catching the sunrise during a quiet walk, or doing a little sunset sweat session that reconnects you with your “why”.
The heat slows us down — which can be a gift
Summer forces us to pause more, rest more, breathe deeper. That’s not laziness, that’s balance. Fitness isn’t always about pushing hard 24/7.
Sometimes it's about listening to your body, adjusting the pace, and recognising that rest is part of the process. Use the slower energy of summer to recalibrate. Move, but recover too.
So yes, it’s hot, sticky and sometimes unbearable. But your goals don’t have to get lost in the heat.
This season, let the weather push you in the right ways — to hydrate more, move intentionally, shift your mindset and adapt with grace.
You don’t have to be perfect. Just consistent. You’ve come too far to let the thermostat decide how committed you are.
You got this … Now go drink some water and show this summer who's boss.
