Hundreds of Jehovah’s Witnesses are preparing to gather at the Ruth Seaton James Auditorium for their annual convention next weekend.

This year’s theme is “Pure Worship!” and it captures the spirit of what attendees hope to experience: a deepening of faith, joyful connection, and spiritual clarity.

The events, from July 18 to 20, are free and open to the general public.

Luke Branco, a spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Bermuda said: “For me and millions of Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide, we look forward to meeting and worshipping together with other congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses and visitors from our area.

“It is truly an upbuilding and unifying experience to meet together for these events. Each day has a scriptural theme and a programme of events that can be reviewed and meditated upon, providing something to look forward to and build anticipation. In this way, we prepare our hearts and minds for all three days of spiritual nourishment.

“The three-day convention will feature Bible-based talks, video presentations, and dramatisations, all focused on the theme of pure worship.

“Attendees will explore questions such as: What is pure worship? How does Jesus’s example guide our worship? What role does truth play in drawing closer to God?

“Through Bible-based talks and videos, all people, regardless of religious affiliation or disassociation, can find the teachings and example of Jesus Christ to be enlightening.

“We focus on Bible principles that help us live better lives and draw us closer to God. In Episodes 2 and 3 of the video series The Good News According to Jesus, we will see how pure worship influenced Jesus and helped many to enjoy peace and happiness.”

Episode 1 of the 18-part video series, based entirely on the Gospel accounts, was introduced last year to great enthusiasm, and this year's continuation is highly anticipated.

Mr Branco said the series would help to increase understanding of Jesus’s life and ministry.

“This video series completely transports us to the days of Jesus,” Mr Branco said. “Accuracy gives understanding. We will see how pure worship influenced Jesus and helped many to enjoy peace and happiness.”

He added: “The Bible teaches that pure worship brings true peace and happiness and protects us from being misled by falsehoods and forms of worship that misrepresent God and Christ.

“On Saturday, one of the most significant moments of the convention will take place: the baptism of local candidates who publicly affirm their faith. Baptism, for Jehovah’s Witnesses, is a deeply personal act of dedication and commitment to God.”

The convention also includes song, prayer, and fellowship, providing attendees with space to connect with one another, reflect, and rejoice in their shared faith.

“Each year, we say the same thing: ‘This was exactly what we needed.’” Mr Branco said. “The messages uplift us, focus us, and strengthen our worship of God, especially in a world where people are facing so many hardships.

“Jehovah’s Witnesses want the wider Bermuda community to know that everyone is welcome, regardless of prior affiliation or belief. Admission is free, and no collections are taken. All are encouraged to come as they are.”

Jehovah’s Witnesses are known for their warmth, he said, adding that they wanted to make allcomers feel welcome.

Mr Branco said: “Even if you’re just curious, we invite you to join us and see what it’s all about. Those interested in attending are encouraged to visit jw.org to learn more and review the full programme schedule.”

With a focus on spiritual renewal, practical guidance, and the life of Christ, the “Pure Worship!” convention offers an opportunity for reflection, learning, and connection.

Whether you're seeking answers, strength, or simply a place to feel welcome, this year’s convention might be just the encouragement you need.
