Enough of this docks dispute already

Chris Furbert, president of the Bermuda Industrial Union (File photograph by Akil Simmons)

Dear Sir,

Once again, I put pen to paper — first of all, the docks. All foods comes through the docks in Hamilton. Please pass a law making them an essential service, and that all labour disputes go to binding arbitration.

You can’t let the union put the island at risk of a food shortage. The Bermuda Industrial Union is totally irresponsible. It has to eat, too!

With regards to the supermarkets and petrol stations, they should be made essential services and made to open on public holidays.

People have to eat and get petrol for the vehicles.

Come on, Government. Wake up.
