Rider dies after Smith’s crash
A man has lost his life after the bike he was riding collided with a car in Smith’s yesterday, police have confirmed.
The incident happened soon after 5.30pm just east of the junction of Knapton Hill and Harrington Hundreds Road.
Officers from the Bermuda Police Service and crews from other emergency services, including the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene.
The BPS said: “Initial reports indicate the vehicles were travelling in opposite directions along Knapton Hill, when they became involved in a head-on collision.
“Upon arrival, first responders found the male motorcycle rider lying unresponsive on the roadway. They immediately commenced lifesaving measures.
“He was subsequently transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for further treatment of his injuries, which were considered life-threatening.
“Sadly, he succumbed shortly thereafter.”
Police said that the female driver of the car did not appear to be injured.
