Police commend rescuers in Harbour Road crash
Two children and a 38-year-old woman were rescued from the ocean after a crash over the weekend on Harbour Road in Warwick, the Bermuda Police Service said.
A spokesman said that the BPS “commend the actions of those who came to the aid of the driver and children involved” after the single-vehicle crash shortly before noon on Saturday, near the junction with Belmont Road.
He said the vehicle was being driven in the westbound lane of Harbour Road when it crossed into the opposite lane, hit the wall and ended up in the sea below.
Initial information indicated that the driver, from Warwick, had two child passengers. They were rescued by members of the public in the area.
They were medically assessed at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and discharged that afternoon.
The spokesman said that traffic was diverted for about three hours while the damaged car was lifted from the water by crane and towed away.
Staff from the Department of Works and Engineering attended for wall and roadway remediation.
