Applicants invited to apply for workforce development awards
Applications are open for bursary awards made available through the Department of Workforce Development, it was announced today.
The one-time educational awards were designed to support people in advancing their studies and professional development.
They provide funding support for short programmes, completion of a single course with an organisation on the island, associate’s and master’s degrees, as well as professionally recognised and accredited diplomas, certificates or designations.
“Unlike traditional scholarships tied to specific fields, the bursary awards are open to all areas of study,” the DWD said.
“This flexibility allows individuals to explore new subjects, upskill, retrain and enhance their professional abilities.”
Funds must be used for tuition or course-related fees.
Applicants must be registered or enrolled by March 31, 2026, and complete the course within a year from that date.
Malika Cartwright, the DWD director, said: “This award is about giving individuals the opportunity to take the next step in their education and career journey, whether it’s obtaining a certification, pursuing an associate’s degree or finishing the final stages of a graduate programme.”
The application window will run from October 15 to December 15, replacing the previous rolling submissions with a fixed period.
“This structured approach ensures a streamlined selection process and more efficient allocation of resources,” the DWD added.
Applications can be submitted by visiting dwd.bm, where the “Resources” tab should be selected.
The “Forms” tab should then be chosen, where applicants are advised to scroll down to the “Funding and Scholarships” category, then click on the 2025 Bursary Awards Application Form.
