Free rides to celebrate launch of new ferries

Members of the public can ride the island’s two newest fast ferries for free on Saturday.

A government spokeswoman said four 45-minute cruises will depart Hamilton Ferry Terminal every hour from noon until 4pm.

The new ferries, built by Strategic Marine in Singapore, arrived in Bermuda last month and feature wi-fi, improved disabled access and seating for up to 550 passengers.

The ferries MV Warbaby Fox and MV JL Cecil Smith, replace the ageing vessels of the same name.

Boarding on Saturday will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
