Lindo’s Tigers and Phoenix Heat in blockbuster netball season opener
An exciting match is in store for the start of the 2024-25 Netball Bermuda Winter League when champions Lindo’s Tigers face Phoenix Heat today (7pm).
Tigers, who ended years searching for a title by securing their first crown last season, face a tough task in their title defence. Standing in their way are the Heat, a side that dominated the league for years.
Both teams had players in the Bermuda team that did a sterling job by clinching second place at the Battle of the Isles in Sint Eustatius and Sint Maarten.
The Trott twins, Jahkenya and Jahtuere, are a constant threat with their shooting prowess whenever given a chance. With Kaylee Lema expected to pull strings in the middle of the court, while Demiqua Daniels and Khianda Pearman-Watson hold firm at the back, Anthony Mouchette’s side look solid.
Kianté Lightbourne and Keizhari Knight were the Heat players in the national squad. Coach Erika Russell has over the years infused young players to complement the experience in the team.
In an earlier senior match at Bernard Park, St George’s take on North Village at 5.30pm. With a First Division match also introduced for older players, Hamilton Parish face Atlantic Aces at 5pm, while Storm Next Generation take on Devonshire Colts Diamonds at 6pm.
