Repairs and community gathering to affect weekend traffic
Bridge repairs and a Christmas event will affect traffic this weekend, the Ministry of Public Works and Environment announced.
A spokeswoman said Bailey Bridge, from the northern end of the Causeway, will be reduced to one lane of traffic starting tomorrow so that repairs can take place.
Work will take place on the lane outbound from St George’s between 7.30am and 5.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Traffic will be managed with barricades and signs and motorists should be cautious and expect delays in the area.
The spokeswoman added that no traffic will be allowed from King Street to 17 Curving Avenue in Hamilton on Sunday, owing to the Christmas on the Curve event.
Representatives from the Church of God Prophecy will manage traffic during the closure, which will be in effect from midday until 7pm. Motorists can detour via Parsons Road and Happy Valley Road.
Questions about the bridge repairs can be directed to Curtis Charles, the ministry’s highways and construction engineer, on 501-3036, and Erna DeGraff, from the Church of God Prophecy, can be reached at 335-0984 for queries about Christmas on the Curve.
