A charity dedicated to tackling the issue of homelessness has announced that Richard Oduntan, the founder of Re2 Capital, has joined its board of directors.

Dr Oduntan said he was honoured to join Home to help make sure that safe, dignified housing is within reach for everyone in the community.

He said: “What drew me to Home is their belief that homelessness in Bermuda is not inevitable, and that with the right partnerships and ideas we can end it.

“I look forward to working alongside the team to scale practical, sustainable initiatives that don’t just manage homelessness, but help to eradicate it.”

Denise Carey, the chief executive and executive director of Home, said: “Richard’s deep commitment to innovation, coupled with his understanding of how data can drive meaningful social change, makes him an invaluable addition to our board.

“His experience will help strengthen our ability to deliver life-changing support to those who need it most.

“We are grateful to have him join us as we continue building a Bermuda where homelessness is rare and brief.”

As of the end of last year, the charity identified 1,101 people experiencing homelessness in Bermuda.

In addition, in 2024 it supported 306 clients, prevented 65 new cases of homelessness and found settled housing for 49 formerly homeless people, working with the Bermuda Housing Corporation and private landlords.

Before launching Re2, Dr Oduntan served as chief executive officer of Nephila Climate, where he built and led a pioneering climate risk transfer fund manager.

Arthur Wightman, the chairman of Home, said: “We are delighted that Richard is joining our board.

“As we work to enhance how we use data and analytics to better support our clients, his expertise will be pivotal.

“Richard’s deep experience in risk management will also strengthen our ability to navigate the wide range of risks we face as an organisation.”
