Bermuda Monetary Authority spreads festive cheer
Bermuda Monetary Authority staff have donated more than 1,000 gifts and essential items for local nursing home residents.
The BMA aimed to spread joy and holiday cheer to residents of Lefroy House and the Packwood Home in Sandys; Westmeath Residential and Nursing Care Home in Pembroke; and the House of Esther in St George’s.
In response to wish lists from the care homes, BMA staff donated gifts and much needed essential items over a two-week period.
These included food and festive treats, clothing, socks, hats and scarves, small appliances, personal care products, colouring books, board games and arts and crafts kits.
In addition, BMA staff also gifted two recliners to Westmeath.
Westmeath’s therapeutic activities co-ordinator Santashae Ascento thanked the BMA.
She said: “Each gift makes a difference in the lives of our residents, particularly the much needed personal care products and toiletries. The holiday season can also be lonely for some of our senior citizens. Many of the gifts, like the board games and playing cards, bring smiles to their faces and spread warmth and cheer.”
Mesheiah Keane, BMA chief human resource officer, said it was proud to continue its annual tradition of giving back to the community.
“Thanks to the dedication and generosity of our staff, we have shown our seniors in the community just how appreciated and valued they truly are,” Ms Keane said.
BMA chief executive Craig Swan said the organisation was happy to support community-focused appeals.
“I am very thankful and proud of the energy and enthusiasm our staff have demonstrated in contributing to this worthwhile cause and sharing their spirit of kindness and generosity,” he said.
