The Bermuda Monetary Authority is marking International Women’s Day with an event highlighting the role of mentoring and support in advancing women in the workplace.

The authority said the 2026 theme, “Give to Gain”, focuses on how mentoring, sponsorship and collective action can help build a more inclusive and supportive professional environment.

The regulator noted that women make up a major part of its workforce and are increasingly represented in senior leadership and on its board.

Shanna Lespere, deputy chief executive, said the day serves as a reminder of the broader benefits of supporting women and girls.

“International Women’s Day is a powerful reminder that when women and girls thrive, everyone rises,” Ms Lespere said. “When women are supported, especially through mentoring and sponsorship, opportunities expand, confidence grows and the impact ripples far beyond individuals — strengthening teams, organisations and the wider community.”

To mark the occasion, the BMA will host a luncheon and panel discussion featuring female speakers who will share experiences from their careers and community work.

International Women’s Day is celebrated globally on March 8 and recognises the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
