Residents interested in taking part in the island’s first regulated rideshare programme are urged to sign up before 5pm on Thursday.

A total of 150 permits will be issued as part of the initial roll-out, including ten permits for wheelchair-accessible vehicles, with ridesharing operations scheduled to begin on June 10.

Owen Darrell, the Minister of Tourism, Transport, Culture and Sport, called it “an exciting opportunity to be part of a new chapter in Bermuda’s transportation industry”.

“We want to encourage eligible public service vehicle licence holders to apply and help shape a modern, reliable transportation service that benefits both residents and visitors.”

The programme is intended to help bolster options during busy periods with taxi operators maintaining priority.

Applications and eligibility details are available through the Transport Control Department website. Additional information and FAQs can also be found at Government of Bermuda Ridesharing FAQs.
