Former premier supported service to the aged

The Reverend Fred Hassell

Dear Sir,

My wife, June, and I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Sir John Swan, who passed last week. We wish them to know that they are very much in our prayers and thoughts.

May his children and grandchildren discover divine solace in the cherished outpouring of national tributes to his memory and shared legacy.

I shall treasure Sir John’s personal testimonial in my memoir, Flog Your Memory, Write It Down, where he praised my set-up of the 1990s former Admiralty House Investment Club and promotion of financial literacy. Moreover, he championed my service to the aged and the book's poignant stories about philanthropy in Bermuda, which he hoped would inspire future generations to serve their country.

I conclude this tribute with a prayer of gratifying thanksgiving and remembrance of Sir John’s lifetime of leadership and unwavering public service to the island. So, we pray: May the love of God, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with him. Amen.

REVEREND FRED HASSELL
