Bermuda’s track and field athletes will begin their Commonwealth Games experience in Glasgow today.

Nirobi Smith-Mills, Caitlyn Bobb and Sakari Famous will compete in the Scotstoun Stadium, with Tiara DeRosa, Jessica Lewis, Norre Robinson and Jah-Nhai Perinchief waiting for their chance to shine later in the week.

Bobb is first in action on the track, competing in the first round of the 400 metres at 6.30am Bermuda time.

The 23-year-old will line up in lane four in the second of three heats, with her season’s best of 53.36, the sixth-best time of the eight runners. However, her personal best of 51.11 would put her right in the mix of qualification.

“I’m actually feeling very excited and normally I just feel nothing,” Bobb said.

“I'm not sure if that's normal but normally I feel nothing and I'm actually excited because a lot has been learnt from the previous Commonwealth Games I've attended.

“When you grow up, you mature, you learn and even though the season isn’t my best season by any stretch of the imagination, I'm excited to prove myself and just to show myself what I really am made of despite how things have been looking so far.”

Bobb is aware she has work to do to make it through to the final but is focusing on process and not result.

“I don’t really have a time specifically I am aiming towards,” she said.

“A PR would be very nice but also I'm very realistic and would like to run 52 low, 51 high. That's my goal in total but again it’s not about the time. I just have to execute my race because the time will then come.

“All of the girls in my heat that have faster speed times are in front of me so I can chase which I love to do.

“I’m very excited and you know not everyone can say they’ve been to a Commonwealth Games and, prayerfully, I’m able to say I made it to the semi-finals.

Bobb is swiftly followed on the track by Nirobi Smith-Mills, who competes in the first round of the 800 metres at 7.15am Bermuda time.

Smith-Mills has been drawn in lane eight in the second of four heats and will be competing against athletes from Kenya, Australia, Jamaica, Belize, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and the Solomon Islands for the chance to make it through to the next round.

Famous must wait until the evening session for her time in the spotlight, with the high jump event being contested as a straight final.

The 26-year-old has been in good form this season, breaking and equalling the national record on a number of occasions in 2026.

Her personal best of 1.85 means she goes into the event ranked twelfth of the 12 participants.
