Kymani Thomas has been named the recipient of the 2026 Ted Crawford scholarship, supported by the Hamilton Rotary Club.

In addition to a $15,000 award to support the CedarBridge Academy graduate as he studies heating, ventilation and air conditioning at the Bermuda College, Mr Thomas will benefit from mentorship provided by the club.

He said: “This scholarship will be a great relief to my family and me because we won't have to stress so much about finding the money for tuition.”

The Ted Crawford Scholarship was established in recognition of Mr Crawford, a former principal of the Bermuda Technical Institute, a precursor to the Bermuda College, and a former Rotarian.

Sandra Dill, the president of the Hamilton Rotary Club, said: “Education changes lives.

“When we invest in young people, we invest in Bermuda's future. Kymani has demonstrated the determination and potential that this scholarship was created to recognise and we are proud to support him as he begins this important journey.”

In addition to his studies, Mr Thomas hopes to gain hands-on work experience and has agreed to participate in the club’s community service projects, giving back to the island.

The club said: “Supporting education, developing future leaders and strengthening Bermuda's workforce remain important priorities for the Hamilton Rotary Club.

“Through initiatives such as the Ted Crawford Scholarship, the club continues to invest in young Bermudians and create pathways for them to develop their talents, achieve their educational and career goals and contribute to their community.”
