Partnership assists those with illness and vision loss
A partnership between two charities provides a variety of opportunities to people experiencing serious illness and vision loss.
A statement said the collaboration between Compassionate Care Partners and Vision Bermuda was introduced in April and is now in its second cohort.
The scheme was established to expand Compassionate Care Partners’ Connections Programme, which supports people living with serious or life-limiting conditions, to those navigating vision loss.
Jennifer Mahoney, the executive director of Compassionate Care Partners, said: “We are extremely excited about this new partnership and the opportunity to learn more about and support those members of our community that are impacted by varying degrees of vision loss.
“People should not have social biases placed upon them because of any diagnosis, and hopefully programmes such as this one are a reminder to the participants of their value despite their diagnosis.”
The partnership allows Vision Bermuda clients to participate in music therapy and recreational activities in a safe environment free of charge.
Erica Ingemann, Vision Bermuda executive director, said: “Vision loss can affect far more than sight, often influencing independence and a sense of connection.
“We are sincerely grateful to Compassionate Care Partners for extending this opportunity to our clients.”
The statement added that the partnership reflects Compassionate Care Partners’ “broader commitment to making meaningful connections within the Bermuda community — a commitment rooted in the belief that thoughtful, person‑directed care supports and results in a better quality of life”.
