Bermuda's Ben Sherratt won the Boys Under-13 division at the 2026 PVD Squash Junior Gold tournament in Providence, Rhode Island, last weekend, beating the top seed in the final.

Sherratt edged past No 3 seed Yousuf Khalil 3-2 (16-14, 11-6, 9-11, 6-11, 11-5) in the semi-final, recovering after losing the third and fourth games. He then upset No 1 seed Muhammed Arshad Burki 3-1 (11-8, 12-10, 4-11, 11-9) in the final.

It is Sherratt's first US Junior Gold title, following a win at the Boston Squash Junior Silver and a third-place finish at the Detroit Summer Junior Gold, both in August, and a runner-up finish at the Caribbean Area Squash Association Junior Championships in July.

The ranking points from Providence should help Sherratt secure strong seedings for two major events in December. He is targeting a top-four finish at the Canadian Junior Open and a top-16 finish at the US Junior Open.

“We are thrilled to have Ben competing internationally on the US Junior Circuit, and even more thrilled to see him winning at that level,” said Micah Franklin, Head of Squash at the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association.

“This level of competition at such a young age is remarkable for such a small squash country like Bermuda. I’m excited to watch this next generation of squash players continue to grow and develop their games to become competitive on the world stage.”

Sherratt thanks coach Franklin, the BSA's adult members who regularly give him match practice and Somersfield Academy for supporting him and accommodating his training schedule.
