Word of Life Bermuda the beneficiary of charity race
A new challenge has been added to the Word of Life Chase 5K for competitive runners.
For the first time the 5K competitive run will feature a time handicap in which runners will submit a time they think they complete the 5K, with the use of personal timing devices strictly prohibited.
The challenge will be to see how close they can get to the time they predicted at sign-up, with awards to be presented to the top three males and females that come the closest to their predicted times.
There will also be awards for the top placing finishers in each age category from juniors (12 and over) to super veterans (70 and over).
The Word of Life Chase 5K event also includes a one-mile race for children 12 years old and under which will kick things off at 8am. The 5K competitive run/walk and 5K non-competitive run/walk will then follow at 8.20am.
Proceeds from the annual event will go in support of Word of Life Bermuda, a Christian mission organisation that runs programmes and summer camps for local young people.
The race will be held at Astwood Park on October 10.
Participants can sign up for the race online at racedayworld.com.
