While the World Rugby Classic is still four weeks away, excitement is starting to build after Wales legend George North confirmed he will be heading to Bermuda for the annual tournament.

The action takes place at North Field, National Sports Centre, from November 7 to 13, where Argentina Legends will be seeking to defend their title.

Organisers of the popular tournament for retired former international stars have announced that North, who represented Wales 121 times at wing between 2010 and 2024, will be taking fans down memory lane. He also featured on three occasions for the British & Irish Lions.

North, who played at four World Cups, was a try-scoring machine for Wales between 2010 and 2024, crossing the whitewash 47 times. Only Shane Williams has more tries than North for Wales with 58.

The 34-year-old North was the architect of the Welsh clinching four Six Nations titles and two Grand Slams.

Last Saturday, North played his last professional match when he came off the bench to score two tries and a conversion for the Barbarians against Wales at Allianz Stadium in London.

Another former Wales stalwart, Justin Tipuric, is also being lined up for the Classic. The flanker played 93 times for his country and toured with the Lions on three occasions.

Ex-Wales scrum-half Lloyd Williams is another player the fans can look forward to watching.

Matt Scott, who was capped 40 times by Scotland, former Fiji backline player Nikola Matawalu and Niall Scannell, an ex-Ireland hooker, will be the other big names spectators can be enthusiastic about seeing in action.

The 34-year-old Scannell is freshly retired after playing his last match for Irish club Munster in the United Rugby Championship on May 30.
