New Bermuda cybersecurity council launched
A new council for Bermuda’s senior cybersecurity and technology leaders will make its public debut next month alongside a conference examining threats, incident response and the link between security and insurance underwriting.
The Cybersecurity Executives of Bermuda, or CEB, is a vendor-neutral peer council for chief information officers, chief information security officers, chief technology officers and equivalent leaders across re/insurance, banking, telecommunications, healthcare, government and critical infrastructure.
It will be launched publicly at Cybermuda 2026, a half-day conference hosted with the Bermuda chapter of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association at Paradise Mobile in Hamilton on November 5.
The council said it aims to help members share threat intelligence and good practice, prepare through joint cyber-incident exercises, contribute a private-sector voice on cyber policy and regulation, and support the development of Bermudian cybersecurity talent.
“Bermuda's most important institutions are defended by a small group of people who, until now, had no structured way to work together,” Rafal Baran, CEB co-chairman, said. “The council gives them a trusted room to share what they are seeing, prepare together and speak with one voice when it matters.”
The conference programme includes a live discussion on AI-enabled social engineering, a cyber-incident tabletop exercise and a panel on how an organisation’s cybersecurity posture can affect insurance coverage, pricing and claims.
That final discussion is expected to be particularly relevant to Bermuda’s insurance and reinsurance market, bringing together cyber insurers, brokers and underwriters.
“Isaca Bermuda exists to raise the standard of governance, assurance and security on the island,” said Gabrielle Lang, president of Isaca Bermuda. “Partnering with CEB connects our practitioner community with the executives who set the agenda, and the hands-on format means people leave with something they can put to use the next morning.”
Attendance is limited to 40 people. CEB is co-chaired by Mr Baran and Ronnie Viera. Membership is by application and carries no fee.
