Cougars, Rams bump heads in summit clash
Premier Division title hopefuls Devonshire Cougars and North Village will cross swords in a top-of-the-table clash at Devonshire Rec tonight (9pm).
Only two points separate second-placed Rams from third-placed Cougars with both teams unbeaten in two league outings to date.
Rams trail leaders and champions Dandy Town on goal difference and need only a draw to replace the latter at the summit at least.
But their task won’t be easy against hosts Cougars, who are coming off an inspiring 2-0 shutout win away to PHC Zebras.
“Cougars have picked up few good additions to their team so we are expecting another tough game out at the Den,” Rams coach Cal “Patches” Dill told The Royal Gazette.
“Tomorrow's game is just as important as any other game, so we just have to continue on putting the work in as a team and coaching to get where we want to be.”
Cougars co-head coach Jensen Rogers said they are are pumped up for an exciting match-up.
“It’s Friday night under the lights at the Den against what many would consider the league favourites,” he said. “These are the games you look forward to as a coach and a player, and we’re excited for the challenge and looking forward to it.
“We’ll approach the game the same way we approach every other match, with belief in our preparation and what we bring to the table.”
Cougars are expected to be at full strength, while Village are still without influential midfielder Sincere Hall, who suffered a hamstring injury in Bermuda’s 2-1 defeat away to Barbados in the Nations League on October 5.
Tonight’s Premier Division clash will be preceded by the First Division encounter between Boulevard and Vasco, which kicks off at 7pm.
Both teams are still seeking their first points after losing to Somerset Eagles and Hamilton Parish in their season openers last weekend.
