Teenager dies after Pembroke shooting
A teenager injured in a recent Pembroke shooting has succumbed to his injuries.
A police spokesman said the 17-year-old boy, who was shot several times at a residence in the Curving Avenue area on October 14, had died at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
The incident, which police responded to at about 10.45pm, was the third murder and second fatal shooting of 2026.
The spokesman said the investigation into the Pembroke shooting had transitioned into a murder inquiry.
Darrin Simons, the Commissioner of Police, earlier said that officers had detained a young male in connection with the incident.
The spokesman said yesterday: “Following the teen’s passing, a BPS Family Liaison Officer was assigned to assist his next of kin.”
The shooting took place less than 24 hours before 39-year-old Lindley “LJ” Scott Jr was fatally stabbed at Southampton Rangers Sports Club.
It was also three days after a man suffered a serious head wound in a shooting at a Hamilton Parish residence.
Police were initially interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen “suspicious persons and/or vehicles” in the area of Harrington Sound Road and Wilkinson Avenue between 10.30pm and 11.30pm.
Members of the public were urged to provide information to Detective Sergeant Odessa Philip, of the Serious Crime Unit, on 717-2193, 247-1739 or ophilip@bps.bm.
