PHC scored twice in each half to secure their third Premier Division win with victory over St George's Colts at Wellington Oval on Sunday.

Joshua Joseph opened the scoring in the fourth minute before Tristan Davis doubled the lead 20 minutes later. Nasje Brockington added a third in the 54th minute and Stephan Simmons rounded off the scoring six minutes from time.

PHC coach Cecoy Robinson was pleased with how his side bounced back from their Dudley Eve Trophy exit at the hands of X-Roads. The Zebras are level on points for second and sit three points behind champions Dandy Town.

“After the semi-final defeat, we had to come back and regroup and make sure that we put together the performance to get the points,” Robinson told The Royal Gazette.

“I thought we played much better, retained possession of the ball a little bit. Again, the goal is to make sure that we stay close to the top, these three points keep us in second, tied on points with North Village.

“We’ve just got to keep working match by match and keep putting them together to be stronger.”

Joseph lobbed the ball over goalkeeper Leo Harris to give the visitors the lead. St George’s captain Jarazinho Bassett had a chance to equalise three minutes after, but he could not keep the ball down.

The home side were forced into an early change when DeQuan Lodge suffered a hamstring injury and was replaced by Jah-Shon Smith in the 28th minute. Smith did not last long either, making way for Jahkai Brangman five minutes before the break.

Joseph floated the ball into the box in the 21st but Jeze Butterfield was unable to connect on the blind side.

Davis beat a drawn out keeper after connecting with a long ball. The forward could have tripled the lead in the 52nd after being put through by Rayquan Woodley-Smith, only to fire wide.

Jahiem Iris saw a powerful strike pushed behind by the St George's goalkeeper. Brockington scored directly from the resulting corner, with his effort sailing in without a touch from another player.

In the 82nd, Jahron Dickinson had a chance to pull one back for St George’s after being put through by Bassett, but he guided his effort wide.

Simmons delivered a spectacular strike when St George’s failed to clear the ball from a corner kick.

PHC were without Enrique Russell, who has been handed a three-match suspension by the Bermuda Football Association after being sent off in their last league match against X-Roads.

The Zebras had indicated their intention to appeal the red card in the hope it would be rescinded, but instead he will also sit out their next league encounter against Young Men's Social Club.

“Enrique Russell got three games, so he’ll miss our next match as well,” the PHC coach said.

“Guys have to step up to the plate and fill the gaps where he will be important for us. We have youngsters in there, it takes a team effort and we have to work through it.”
