Promising athletes scoop multiple titles
LoVintz Tota, Victoria Clarke, Dage Minors and Ember Butterfield were among those who showed plenty of promise during the National Track and Field Championships at the National Sports Centre (NSC).
All four athletes scooped multiple titles at last weekend's meet. Tota did the double with his 100 metre open title in which he clocked a time of 11.15 seconds, and then claimed the Open long jump title with a leap of 7.17m.
Zakiyya Showers and Rachel Fox also won a number of titles, winning the girls 12 and under 1500 and 3000m, and girls 14 and under 1500 and 60m hurdles respectively.
Adam Hall, Haile Eve, Michaiah Robinson, Dale Eve, Tez Terry and Jeneko Butterfield also won two events in their age groups. Minors continued his rich vein of form snatching victory in the 14 and under 800 and 1500m races, while Kyrah Scraders snatched the 200, 400, and 800m girls 12 and under crowns.
Butterfield also did the treble, winning the girls 100m dash to go along with her 200m and long jump titles, with Clarke, also doing the feat in the 14 and under girls, winning the 100, 200 and 400m titles.
The Bean sisters, Taylor-Ashley and Alexis, had days to remember as well.
Taylor-Ashley won the 17 and under 800 and 1500m crowns while sister Alexis claimed the girls 20 and under 800 and 1500m titles.
Tre Houston, Henry Stevens-Carty, Sean Trott and Aaron Evans all prepared for their upcoming international meets with solid performances in their respective events.
Stevens-Carty won the 17 and under boys 800 and 1500m races, while Houston did the double in the 100 and 200m 20 and under boys division.
Evans won the boys 20 and under 800m title, and Trott won the 20 and under 1500 and 500m titles.
