Fire Service feel heat from All-Stars
Group B leaders Fire Service following a convincing triumph on Saturday.
All-Stars handed Service their second league defeat of the season, a 2-0 thumping, as the race heated up heading toward the Christmas break.
Goals from Michael Looby and James Tweed proved decisive as Devonshire increased their season point total to 13 after eight matches, while Service now have 14 from nine.
Also taking advantage of the leaders' slip were KPMG, who blasted Park United 4-0 at Shelly Bay and presently stand third on 12 points.
Neil Clemens did most of the damage for the victors, scoring twice, while A.Jennings and K.Burgess got the others.
Craig (Boogie) Brangman struck a hat-trick for Somerset Extros in a wide open affair with Devonshire Lions at the Den that ended 6-4 in favour of the visitors.
Brangman's tally included a scorcher from 17 yards -- his second -- that left players and spectators alike in awe as it rocketed into the back of the net.
Aiding the burly striker in the scoring department were Dwaine Richardson, Gladstone Robinson and Jerry-Lynn Simons, while Donald Norford (two), Kent Henry and Anthony Amory registered strikes for Lions.
However, despite the victory, the west enders were bumped down a spot in the standings as St. George's All-Stars leapt above them on the basis of a superior goal difference after a 6-0 mauling of Wolves.
Meanwhile, it was a case of "double trouble'' for Wolves, who watched as Cal Raynor, Kenny Cann and Eugene Crockwell all struck two goals each.
Also, Valley downed an improved Prison Officers 3-2 as Kevin Issac struck twice and Kevin McNeil once for Valley. Former Somerset and Bermuda captain Dennis Brown scored both times for Prison Officers.
In Alliance Division Knock-out action North Village downed Boulevard 4-0 as Danny Rogers, Richard Todd, Sheldon Franks and Wayne Augustus scored one goal each, while Somerset beat St. George's 3-0 on tallies by Harry Hunt, Kwame Tucker and Akil Lambert.
