Police report accidents, arrests

A senior pedestrian was injured on Wednesday night in Warwick after being struck by a taxi while crossing the road, police reported.

The 79-year-old woman was hit around 8pm while crossing Cobbs Hill Road to attend Cobbs Hill Gospel Chapel.

She was later said to be in stable condition on a general ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

The driver, 52, from Paget, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

Meanwhile, a 29-year-old Warwick man was treated in hospital after what police described as “an incident” in Hamilton Parish near the entrance to the Grotto Bay resort.

He was found injured between in the early hours of this morning.

Witnesses to either incident are asked to contact police at 295-0011.

A police spokesman also said that three men had been arrested in connection with a drugs matter on Tuesday.
