Wheatley appointed Supreme Court registrar

New appointment: Alexandra Wheatley

The Supreme Court has been appointed a new registrar, the Governor has announced.

John Rankin welcomed Alexandra Wheatley to the team after deliberation with the Judicial and Legal Services Committee and Chief Justice.

He said: “She is highly qualified to take on the challenges of this role, not only from her current experience as Acting Registrar and Assistant Registrar but also from her wider legal experience since being called to the Bermuda Bar in 2007.

“I wish Ms Wheatley well in her new position.”

Ms Wheatley graduated from Dalhousie University in Canada with a Bachelor of Science in 2004.

She gained a graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Westminster in 2005 and a postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law in London in 2005.

She was called to the Bermuda Bar in 2007 and worked in private practice with Marshall Diel & Myers from 2006 to 2014.

Ms Wheatley was a legal aid lawyer from 2014 to 2017 and has also served as an acting magistrate in the Family, Civil and Criminal Courts.

She joined the Judicial Department in December 2017 as Assistant Registrar and has served as Acting Registrar since Shade Subair Williams was made a Puisne Judge.
