Kyle Lightbourne, better known for his exploits on the football field, dashed Social Club's hopes of successfully defending their Premier Division title yesterday with a seven-wicket haul against the champions at Devonshire Rec.

The former English professional, now coach of Bermuda Hogges, used his left-arm medium pace to tear apart Social Club in just his second appearance of the season for the Warwick club.

He returned figures of seven for 41 off 9.4 overs, which included two maidens.

Dean Stephens chipped in with two wickets for 40 off five overs, the pair combining to dismiss the reigning champions in a mere 29.4 overs.

Lightbourne was in devastating form from the very first over in which he snatched two wickets without conceeding a single run.

Jameiko Marshall was top scorer for Social Club with an unbeaten 36 while skipper Kevin Hurdle followed on 32. Player/coach Charlie Marshall contributed 29.

PHC, however, made hard work of reaching their target, eventually sneaking home with just four balls to spare in a nailbiting finishing which saw them requiring 12 runs with two overs left and two wickets in hand.

Sheridan (Baldy) Ming topped their batting with 48 while Fiqre Crockwell struck 35 and Andre Manders 20 not out.

Jeff Tyrrell led the Social Club attack with three wickets for 30 off 10 overs while Charlie Marshall claimed two for 36 runs off 10 overs.

At Sea Breeze Oval Southampton Rangers maintained their strong challenge for the title with this five wicket win with Janeiro Tucker and Ryan Belboda combining to take six wickets between them.

Cleveland reached a respectable total thanks to a fine 63 from Jason Simons while Shakai Darrell followed on 28. Tucker finished with three for 20 off seven overs with a maiden while Belboda had three for 26 off 9.2 overs.Cleveland were dismissed in 47.5 overs.

Southampton required just 19.5 overs to reach their target, opener Curtis Jackson leading the way with 47 while Janeiro Tucker was undefeated on 41 and Dion Stovell 37.

Kamari Tucker was the best bowler for Cleveland with two wickets for 26 off six overs, including a maiden.

Ryan Shepherd hit a splendid 56 to lead Willow Cuts to a comfortable 150-run victory over Flatts at Lords in First Division play yesterday.

The points kept Willow Cuts title hopes alive.

At White Hill visitors Devonshire Rec. were beaten by Somerset Bridge by two wickets with Derek Brangman taking two wickets for 13 runs off eight overs.

Jermain Saleem was the top scorer for Bridge with 24 not out.

Ian Armstrong led Devonshire bats with 27 while Sean Perinchief hit 23.

Noel Woods was the best bowler for Bridge finishing with two wickets for 24 runs off eight overs.

The other game between Warwick and St. George's scheduled for St. John's field was not played.
