Men in court on riot charge
Seven men accused of participating in Sunday's massive brawl in St. George's were formally charged in Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Crown counsel Robert Welling told the court that men from two groups, calling themselves 42nd and Parkside, planned to meet and fight.
As a result three people were hospitalised with stab wounds, all of whom have refused to assist Police with inquiries.
The group of seven was yesterday charged with taking part in a riot in St. George's on May 3. They all pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Toshmaal Tucker, 28, was represented by Shade Subair, Michael Talbot, 20, was represented by Larry Scott and Jakeo Leshore, 28, was represented by Elizabeth Christopher. All three men are from Devonshire.
Two of the men were from Paget. Tyun Smith-Ming, 20, was represented by Larry Mussenden, while Tideone Smith, 30, was also represented by Ms Subir. Twenty-one-year-old Jerome Mader, of Hamilton Parish, was represented by Rick Woolridge while 28-year-old Pembroke resident Jadel Rogers, was represented by Larry Scott.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released the men on $5,000 bail plus one surety with conditions attached each is subject to a 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew and must report to the nearest Police station on a daily basis, between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. The men were also told not to congregate in groups of more than five unless working, and not to meet with each other.
The group was ordered to return to Magistrates' Court on May 20 for a pre-trial hearing.
