Woman involved in fatal crash is stable
A 29-year-old Warwick woman injured in a fatal crash on Saturday night was yesterday listed as “stable” in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s intensive care unit.
The crash in St George’s, in which 30-year-old Rakai Augustus was killed, is still under investigation.
The woman, who was believed to have been the driver, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
A police spokesman said the arrest was in line with road traffic law applied to “any collision where serious injury or death occurs”.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man from Pembroke, injured when his motorbike was in collision with a car in the early hours of Saturday morning, was also said to be stable in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
The crash happened at the junction of Elliot Street and Union Street in Hamilton.
And two people injured in a collision on Friday night are recovering in a general ward at the hospital.
The accident left a 31-year-old male bike rider, believed to be from Pembroke, in need of treatment, as well as a 24-year-old female pillion passenger.
The two were hurt at about 9pm when their auxiliary cycle collided with a car at the junction of Court Street and Dundonald Street in Hamilton.
In addition, a 33-year-old woman from Southampton has been treated in hospital and discharged after the car she was driving hit a utility pole at about 2.10am on Saturday in the area of South Road and Horseshoe Road in Southampton.
Police have appealed for witnesses to all four incidents.
