Devonshire man denies robbery charge

A Devonshire painter was yesterday charged with robbing his former employer of more than $16,000.Rodney Grimes, 24, was charged in Magistrates’ Court with robbing Deborah Sutherland, as manager of Terceira’s Gas Station, of $15,681.17 in cash and $1,069.49 in cheques.Mr Grimes pleaded not guilty to the charge.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released Mr Grimes on $10,000 bail with a like surety on the condition that he show up at Hamilton Police Station three times a week.He is expected to return to Magistrates’ Court on September 29 for the matter to be mentioned.
