Teenager denies Divots firearms charge

A teenager has denied firearms charges after a daytime gun attack at a popular restaurant last year.

Josiah King, 19, pleaded not guilty to being in possession of a Glock 19 pistol and 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition when he appeared in last week’s Supreme Court arraignments session.

Mr King, from Warwick, also denied possessing a weapon in a public place with the intent to commit an indictable offence.

The alleged incident took place at Divots Bar and Grill in Warwick in May 2022.

Mr King was remanded into custody until the matter goes to trial.

Also during yesterday’s arraignments session, a 20-year-old man denied counts of aggravated burglary, being in possession of a bladed weapon, robbery, and serious sexual assault on a woman, causing her bodily harm.

The offences were alleged to have taken place on October 19, 2021 following a home break-in in Smith’s.

The man was granted bail and will appear in court for mention next month.

A former lawyer pleaded not guilty to three counts of theft worth almost $500,000.

Tyrone Quinn, 36, denied stealing $300,000 in credit balances from Larry Brangman, $96,000 in credit balances belonging to Jeanna Riley, and $87,000 worth of credit balances from Jacqueline Trott. The alleged offences took place between 2020 and 2021.

The matter was adjourned until next month and Mr Quinn’s bail was extended.
