Sunglasses thief given three-month conditional discharge

A man who stole a pair of sunglasses from a store was given a conditional discharge.

Jevon Easton, 45, from St George’s, admitted to taking the item, valued at $5, when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that Easton entered Fresh Limited, on Queen Street, Hamilton, on April 11, picked up the glasses and left without paying for them.

Staff reported the matter to police, who found Easton with the stolen item a short time later.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson sentenced Easton to a three-month conditional discharge for the offence.
