Somerset Bridge president and Enviroment Minister Marc Bean says the resignation of Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) first-vice president Allen Richardson is a “huge” loss to local cricket.Earlier this week The Royal Gazette revealed that the former St George’s Cup Match batsman had resigned from his post with immediate effect to send shock waves rippling through the local cricket community. However, according to the BCB, Richardson highlighted a desire to continue serving on the Board’s various committees and future projects in his letter of resignation.Bean said Richardson would be sorely missed.“Anytime you have a person with that amount of experience playing the game and administratively it will be a huge void to fill,” he said. “I can’t say it’s shocking news because each person has their own life to live and the decisions they make are up to them and I wish Mr Richardson the best in his future endeavours.“This has certainly left a void in the BCB but at the same time I am confident the remaining BCB executive have the willingness and ability to steer Bermuda cricket back on a path towards progress and success.”National cricket team selector Clay Smith said local cricket has lost one of its most devoted servants in Richardson.“As a Board member his visible presence proved his love and passion for the game and he has been duly noted as one who not only talks the talk but walks the walk,” he added. “His work over the last four years and beyond has been nothing short of extraordinary.”BCB president Lloyd Fray said Richardson made an “enormous contribution” to Bermuda cricket both domestically and internationally.“Since joining the Board in 2005 as second vice-president, Allen has worked tirelessly to improve the standards of cricket and has played a major role in the transition of the BCB into a world-class, internationally acclaimed model of best practice,” he said.“Allen’s expertise and experience will be greatly missed and a (I) certainly hope that he will play a continuing role in supporting our great sport.”Richardson has repeatedly declined an invitation to comment on his resignation.See Clay Smith’s column on Page 25.n Bermuda Cricket Board have approved the transfers of Dwayne Adams from Young Men’s Social Club to Warwick and Treadwell Gibbons from Western Stars to Cleveland County. However, Kameron Fox’s intended transfer from Devonshire to Willow Cuts has not been given the go-ahead by the BCB.BCB president Lloyd Fray said: “Kameron was denied because of incomplete information and as well the BCB receiving his request after the deadline.”The BCB plan to update the existing transfer process prior to the start of the 2013 season.
