Romaine to lead Bermuda Select
Former Bermuda captain Irving Romaine will lead three Bermuda Select teams in practice matches this week against visiting teams ahead of the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 3 Tournament which begins next Sunday.
A total of six matches are scheduled for this week at Sea Breeze Oval and Southampton Oval, beginning today at Bailey’s Bay where the Bermuda team take on Oman, one of the first teams to arrive for the week-long tournament. Tomorrow, at the same venue, Romaine will captain a Select XI against Italy before the Bermuda Select team meets Nepal on Thursday at Southampton Oval and Italy on Friday at Sea Breeze Oval.
The three select teams will contain a number of players on the fringe of the national team — including former team members Chris Foggo, Chris Douglas, OJ Pitcher, Jordan DeSilva, Joshua Gilbert and Kyle Hodsoll. Former Bermuda captain David Hemp, who will arrive later in the week from overseas, will use Friday’s match against Italy to get some match practice ahead of the tournament.
