The health status of Bermuda wicketkeeper Jekon Edness remains shrouded in mystery. The nephew of interim national coach Arnold Manders has been plagued lately by a back injury that has raised doubts over his availability to suit up for his country during the fast approaching Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 3 tournament to be held on local shores.Edness was due to be examined by a physiotherapist on Wednesday to determine whether or not he is fit to play any part in the six-team round robin tournament that bowls off on Sunday.Attempts to obtain an update on the player’s condition from Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) yesterday proved fruitless.Should Edness be declared unfit to play, wicketkeeping duties will likely by taken up by Jason Anderson, who kept behind the stumps during Bermuda’s WCL Division 3 warm up with Oman at Sea Breeze Oval on Monday.Yesterday’s WCL Division 3 warm up match pitting a Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) XI against Nepal failed to get underway at Southampton Oval. The match was initially delayed due to a damp pitch and eventually postponed after Nepal team officials deemed the playing conditions unfit for play.Meanwhile, the WCL Division 3 warm up match between Uganda and Oman at Sea Breeze Oval was rained out.Today will see a BCB XI face off with Italy at Sea Breeze Oval while Uganda will play USA at Southampton Oval.
