USA complete narrow win over Oman

@$:Oman 175USA 176-8Oman came within two wickets of inflicting the first defeat on the United States yesterday at Somerset Cricket Club before eventually going down by two wickets.Sent in, Oman could only manage 175 in 49.4 overs, but it almost proved to be enough as the US struggled to reach their target, falling to 142-7 before an eighth wicket stand of 26 between Rashard Marshall and Barrington Bartley took them to 169.Number five bat, Marshall proved their saviour after opener Steven Taylor was dismissed second ball and two more wickets went down with only 37 on the board. Marshall (72 not out) added 90 for the fourth wicket with captain Steve Massiah (39) to repair the early damage. Others in double figures were Orlando Baker with 20 and Bartley 16 as Aamir Kaleem claimed three for 34 and Munis Ansari three for 62.Earlier, last pair Sufyan Mehmood (26) and Ansari (26 not out) rescued Oman from 135-9 as Neil McGarrell claimed three for 30 for the US and Elmore Hutchinson and Japen Patel two wickets each.Uganda 114-9Italy 91Italy, too, came close to pulling off a big victory when they restricted unbeaten Uganda to 114-9 and then could only manage 91 in reply, going down by 23 runs at the National Sports Centre.Italy’s bowlers were dominant as the 20 extras was the main contributor for Uganda. Carl Sandri claimed four for 26 from 10 overs to lead Italy’s bowling while Vincenzo Pennazza took two for 22 from 10. Italy also found runs hard to come by, slumping from 52-3 to be dismissed for less than 100 in the 36th over.Opener Andrew Northcote was the high man with 28. Uganda captain Davis Arinaitwe took four for 20 from 10 overs and Roger Mukasa two for 11 from 7.3 and Charles Waiswa two for 22 off six.
